Come an step back in time to Christmas 1894.  Mrs. George Morgan, the chatelaine of one of Lenox’s greatest cottages and known as Sarah to her family and closest friends, will host a holiday tea here at the mansion.  She will be at home on Wednesday, December 27th and Friday, December 29th, both at 3:00 pm.

During this living history event, Sarah, performed by actress Anne Undeland, will share with her guests a sumptuous and historically accurate tea, full of stories about the grand manse, its large servant staff, husband George, brother J. Pierpont (the legendary financier), her children, travels, the Victorian Era and the Gilded Age holiday itself.  It’s history come alive!

Undeland has appeared on stages in and around the East Coast for over 20 years. Her many appearances at Ventfort Hall in collaboration with Shakespeare & Company have included the one-woman shows The Belle of Amherst, Xingu, in which she appeared as five different characters, and Fanny Kemble’s Lenox Address.

Undeland also portrayed five women in the humorous, mysterious, slightly risqué, yet poignant glimpse into the demi-monde world of a Belle Époque courtesan in Paris 1890 – Unlaced!  She appeared in over 70 performances of the play, including Off-Broadway at the United Solo Theatre Festival, at Stageworks in Hudson, NY, and elsewhere.

Undeland is a Shakespeare & Company trained actress and has also performed with Mixed Company, Riggs Theatre 37, Castle Hill Theater, Barrington Stage and Capitol Repertory.  She was also a recurring voice in BBC Radio plays by Gregory Whitehead.

Cost to attend a “Christmas Tea with Mrs. Morgan” is $35 per person.  Reservations are required by Friday, December 22. Seating is limited. For reservations call us at 413-637-3206.
